The Armouries

This project took inspiration from the Royal Armouries in Leeds, exploring contradictory materiality. The work plays with two contrasting ideas, making rigid materials malleable and mouldable, and soft materials rigid and structural.

Mirror acrylic and wood veneer were laser cut into knitted loops and interlinked by hand to form self supporting sculptures.

Wire was knitted into the fabric in sections to form 3D sections, resembling the joints of plate armour.

The work was funded through the Berkofsky award.
